Verydarkman Reportedly Plotting to Flee Nigeria Amid EFCC Case, Uche Maduagwu and Deeone Raise Alarm

Controversial Nigerian activist and social media personality Mertins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has once again found himself at the center of a storm—this time over allegations that he is secretly planning to flee the country while still entangled in an ongoing legal tussle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to fresh claims circulating within Nollywood circles, close allies of the activist are allegedly coordinating a covert move to smuggle him out of Nigeria, with Ghana identified as his likely destination. Though unconfirmed, the report has sparked concerns over a potential breach of legal protocol, given that VDM is still under scrutiny for alleged financial crimes.

Prominent Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu took to social media to voice his concern over the report, calling on Nigerian immigration officials and the EFCC to intensify monitoring efforts and ensure that the outspoken activist does not evade justice.

“This is not the time to be lax,” Maduagwu cautioned. “Our law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant. The country cannot afford to let someone with an active case involving serious financial allegations just disappear.”

Adding his voice to the discourse, former Big Brother Naija housemate Aderombi Adedayo Martin, widely known as Deeone, issued a stern warning to VDM and his loyal fanbase—often referred to as the “Ratels.” Deeone, a longtime critic of the activist, expressed skepticism about VDM’s commitment to due process and warned his supporters against stirring further controversy.

“Verydarkman may be walking free now, but let no one be deceived—he’s far from off the hook,” Deeone said. “The EFCC has not closed his file, and he will be answering to those charges in court. His supporters should stop fanning the flames. If they ignore this warning, the consequences will be dire—not just for him, but for everyone enabling this behavior.”

Deeone didn’t hold back, alluding to VDM’s prior run-ins with digital platforms, especially the loss of his TikTok account, which the comedian had previously mocked. “When his account went down, I said it then—there’s a pattern here. One misstep after another. Now, he’s allegedly trying to escape? That’s not the behavior of someone with nothing to hide.”

As the EFCC prepares to advance its case, all eyes are on Verydarkman—once a relentless online voice for justice, now facing his own reckoning in Nigeria’s legal system. With rumors swirling and public opinion divided, the days ahead could prove pivotal for the activist's reputation and freedom.
