President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to ending the scourge of insecurity across Nigeria, particularly the persistent threat of insurgency. He also reassured Nigerians that his government remains focused on steering the nation through its current economic turbulence with firm, deliberate policies aimed at long-term stability and growth.
The President made these remarks on Thursday during a one-day working visit to Anambra State, where he officially commissioned the impressive "Light of the Nation Tower", a towering symbol of identity and ambition conceived and executed under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
Describing the monument as more than just a visual masterpiece, President Tinubu emphasized its significance as a cultural, economic, and tourism catalyst—projecting Anambra into national prominence while honoring its storied legacy.
“This tower isn’t merely a structure; it’s a bold statement of identity, progress, and possibility,” Tinubu declared. “Governor Soludo has demonstrated rare courage in envisioning and executing projects that transcend aesthetics. These are initiatives rooted in economic foresight, urban innovation, and civic pride. Anambra is clearly on the path to becoming not just a regional leader but a global destination.”
He praised Soludo’s dynamic governance style and strategic investments across multiple sectors, expressing full confidence that Nigeria’s economic woes are not insurmountable under his administration’s *Renewed Hope Agenda*.
“When we assumed office, we inherited a country weighed down by near-insolvent public finances, outdated and unsustainable subsidies, and a chaotic foreign exchange landscape,” Tinubu explained. “But like we reclaimed the Atlantic coastline in Lagos, we are reclaiming Nigeria’s future. Fuel and forex subsidies have been curbed. Macroeconomic stability has returned within predictable bounds. Tax and fiscal reforms are underway.”
He also applauded the recent commissioning of the "Solution Fun City" and the new Government House mini-city, which he described as “brilliant indicators of what inspired, purposeful leadership can achieve.”
“These projects align perfectly with your ambitious vision of Anambra as an African-Dubai-Taiwan-Silicon Valley. They are more than developmental milestones—they’re symbols of transformational governance,” he added.
In his address, Governor Soludo called the moment a strategic affirmation of Anambra’s direction. “We are intentional with every project we present to you, Mr. President,” he said. “Today you unveil a boulevard, a monument of heroes, and a tower of light—each one embodying the audacity of our shared dream for a new Anambra.”
The governor emphasized that the Light Tower was conceived not just to enhance the state’s skyline but to serve as a tribute to the past and a beacon for future generations. “It stands as testimony to our commitment to shared prosperity, honoring our founding leaders while igniting a new wave of innovation and investment.”
Adding technical perspective to the project’s significance, Temitope Runsewe, Managing Director of Dutum Construction—the firm behind the tower’s construction—expressed pride in delivering a landmark that balances form and function.
“This is not just a beautiful structure; it’s a long-term economic engine. Our vision was to create something enduring—a monument that positions Anambra competitively on Nigeria’s tourism and innovation map,” Runsewe said.
He lauded the partnership with the state government, citing it as a model for how public-private collaboration can bring ambitious infrastructural dreams to life.
“With over three decades of experience delivering for all tiers of government, Dutum brought not only technical expertise but a deep commitment to aligning infrastructure with public aspiration. The Light Tower is proof that when vision meets capability, extraordinary things happen.”
As the sun set over Anambra, the Light of the Nation Tower stood tall—not just as a marvel of engineering and design, but as a shining emblem of resilience, hope, and the relentless pursuit of a better tomorrow.
