LASEPA Storms Alimosho: Shuts Down Churches, Hotels, Lounges, and Bakery Over Noise, Environmental Offenses

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has ramped up its enforcement of environmental standards with a sweeping operation across Alimosho, sealing off several businesses and religious institutions for persistent noise pollution and violations of state environmental regulations.

In a decisive clampdown on Thursday, LASEPA officials stormed key parts of Alimosho—including Egbeda, Igando, Gowon Estate, and Shasha—targeting establishments notorious for repeated breaches. The exercise saw the closure of a wide range of facilities, from bustling hospitality venues to places of worship and even a bakery.

Among the affected locations were:

Hellious Lounge Bar, Hope of Glory International Redemption Church, Okla Royal Hotel & Masara Entertainment, Olorunisola Hotel, Aloma Hotel & Suites, Let’s Go There Hotel & Lounge, Demeg Hotel, De Emmy Hotel & Suites, Goodtime Palace, Alhaja Fausatu Bankole Mosque, and a yet-to-be-named bakery—all flagged for violating noise level thresholds and other environmental safety standards.

LASEPA emphasized that the enforcement is part of a broader initiative to safeguard public health, restore environmental order, and address the growing complaints from residents affected by excessive noise and unhygienic conditions. According to the agency, many of the establishments had previously been warned but continued to operate without compliance.

A spokesperson for LASEPA reiterated that the agency will not hesitate to take legal action against repeat offenders, noting that the goal is not to stifle business or religious activities, but to ensure they operate within the bounds of environmental responsibility.

As Lagos continues to grapple with urban expansion and dense population challenges, authorities say operations like this are crucial in maintaining a livable cityscape for all residents.
